Our History
Exploration Sous-Marine boasts a stellar reputation. Established in 1977, it is one of the first diving centres to have emerged on the west coast of Mauritius, in Flic-en-Flac. Affiliated with the Mauritius Scuba Diving Association (MSDA) and recognized by the World Confederation of Underwater Activities (CMAS), the centre is managed with professionalism. Our experienced and passionate instructors ensure a safe and enjoyable diving experience, always with a friendly smile!
We offer instruction in French, English, and German.
Founded in 1977 by Hélène, the sister-in-law of Pierre Szalay, the diving centre was led by Pierre for 30 years, from 1984 to 2014. Pascal Ava, who worked alongside him for several years, has been at the helm of Exploration Sous-Marine since 2014. Pascal is also the current president of the MSDA, an organisation co-founded by Pierre, who served as its president for over 15 years.
Since its inception in 1977, the dive centre has continued to make its mark on the Mauritian underwater landscape. The Exploration Sous-Marine team shares a deep passion for biodiversity and is committed to minimising our ecological impact. Over the years, we have dedicated ourselves to the exploration of Mauritius' marine life and promoting responsible diving practices.
